no. 04 : dreams of the daughters

So! Going through FFXIII-2, there's a set of fragments of Vanille and Fang! I have transcribed them for safe keeping. I may add more.

An Affectionate Message "Dreams of the Daughters"

Lapis Lazuli
In the future, Fang and I are called the 'daughters of the goddess,' right? It's kind of embarrassing, to be honest.

When they say goddess, I guess they mean Etro. I remember her. When Fang and I first tried to hold up Cocoon, we felt this … kindly strength surrounding us. It was the same feeling as back when I first turned to crystal.

I bet Fang doesn't remember it as well as me, but I think maybe it was the goddess we felt. Although the priests back home always made her out to be much scarier than that. So maybe I'm wrong?

Heliodor Ore
While we're here, sleeping inside the pillar that holds up Cocoon, Lightning is fighting to protect Etro. I wonder why. Etro is a cruel goddess. She sends Eidolons to persecute dying l'Cie and slaughters her 'children' as carelessly as we swat flies.

I don't really know what Lightning's game is, but I can tell you this. She's in a really bad place. Once she set foot in there, she had no way to get out. It's hard for her to heard while she's in there, too. So, Serah, you've got to help. Listen to your heart—you might hear Lightning if you do.

Carnelian
Hope visited again. We always know when he does. He comes to check the pillar. Fang and I are lost in our dreams, but even so, we know when our friends are close. We can feel them in our hearts.

We're fine here, inside the crystal. But I worry about the future. I … I caused so much trouble for the people of Cocoon. And for Serah, and her sister, and their friends and family. Hope, we're counting on you to save the future and stop the tragedy from happening all over again!

Celestine
That idiot Snow is hell-bent on going to the Coliseum. There's nothing there, except dead fools fighting for glory that no one will ever know. Is he really that obsessed with becoming strong? The worst part is, he's doing it for our sake.

I really wish I could tell him to forget about us and help Serah and Lightning. It was our fault they got caught up in this mess in the first place. If things keep going the way they are, maybe our nightmares'll come true, and those two girls won't ever see each other again.

Cosmo Aura
Serah, can you hear me? Fang and I just had the most wonderful dream. We were in a place I don't know, with a young man and woman who I've never met. they were laughing together, enjoying the moment. They were so happy.

"Vanille's Fruit" Vanille's Echo
I've wanted to apologize to you for so long, Serah. I'm the reason you were turned into a l'Cie. It's my fault you had to suffer. I couldn't say it before, so I'm saying it now. I'm sorry. I'm so very sorry.

Did you know that you were the first miracle in all of this? You defied your l'Cie fate and turned to crystal of your own will. It was your miracle that showed Fang and me that we had the power to save Cocoon.

So don't ever stop believing in yourself. You can make another miracle and protect Cocoon. I know you can do it.

"Fang's Crown" Fang's Echo
I meant to apologize when we met, but I never did. So, Serah, this is my chance. Everything was my fault. You were made into a l'Cie because I messed up. Sure, I helped you out a little, but that doesn't make things right. Vanille and I, we'll repay our debts by keeping Cocoon in the sky.

It's not so bad. I have Vanille here with me, after all. Don't you worry about us, you just get yourself to Lightning. That Caius guy she's fighting? We've heard his name before. He's bad news-a real monster. So hurry along, and help your sister out. You're the one she needs to see more than anyone in this world!

Fragment of Invincibility "Best of the Bestiary"
The War of Transgression that pitted Cocoon against Pulse took place 700 years before the catastrophe. The common wisdom on Cocoon is that the war was sparked by a Pulse invasion; however, Pulse records claim that the culprit was a 'demon from Cocoon.' Historians remain divided to this day.

The people of Pulse had always feared invasion from the sky, and made preparations accordingly. These included 'immortals,' war machines of immense strength and durability that were able to fight fal'Cie even when half-destroyed. The ancient weapons where designed for a defensive war on the ground, not offensive airborne assaults. Some historians claim that this proves it was Cocoon that instigated the war.

Travel Guide: Oerba "Area Information"
Oerba is an abandoned village located in the northern reaches of Pulse. The sand that covers the ground is powdered crystal that fell during the War of Transgression.

In recent times, large numbers of Cie'th have been seen in the area. Presumably, they were created from living humans to serve some mysterious fal'Cie purpose. Cie'th are former l'Cie who failed to complete their Focus.

From the Editor's Desk: Oerba is a designated Special Protected Zone, so visitors are not allowed. However, you might get permission from the Academy for an airship flyover.

Siegrune's Spiritbloom "Message of the Orbs"
The most famous of the prophecies left by the seeress Paddra Nsu-Yeul concerns the descent of the monster Ragnarok in the great battle for Cocoon.

Long before this came to pass, the seeress named the two 'sisters' who would summon the beast. 'They shall come from the far north, and the black-haired one shall be of the family Yun, and the red-haired one of the family Dia.' The truth of the prophecy was later confirmed by the priests of Oerba.

Orb of Clotho "The Book of Haerii"
This is the prophecy as told by Clotho, messenger of the otherworld.

Great Fenrir is the fal'Cie of the skies above. By the will of the might god Pulse, Fenrir ceaselessly wanders the heavenly vault, searching for the great door lost at the equinox of existence. This is the destiny of the fal'Cie Fenrir.

Sword of Lachesis "The Book of Haerii"
This is the prophecy as told by Lachesis, messenger of the magic world.

Ragnarok the beat shall bring down Cocoon. After the War of Transgression, two girls from the far north shall come to Cocoon, the nest of Lindzei, and transform into the beast that destroys it. Until the end of time, this day shall be known as the Day of Ragnarok.

Mirror of Atropos "The Book of Haerii"
The is the prophecy as told by Atropos, messenger of the heavens.

The Thirteenth Ark is the fortress that protects the heavenly vault. When the heroes gather unto mighty Pulse to do battle in the war that must be fought, this shall be the stronghold. Know now and remember that the Ark shall by the salvation of all Pulse's children.

Woolly Stone "The Melancholy of the Lambs"
We're the sheep of Gran Pulse
and our wool is the best,
We grow it this thick
so it keeps off the pests.
But the men chase us down
with scissors and shears,
And cut it all off
before it covers our ears.

Our Rough Wool is strong
and makes saddles and carpets,
Our Thick Wool makes hats
and booties and blankets.
But it's our fine Fluffy Wool
that holds them in thrall,
When plucked at the roots,
it's the best wool of all.

no. 02 : these are stats and permissions so you know what's up

Name: Oerba Dia Vanille note: Oerba refers to the village she's from, and Dia the specific clan.
Age: Nineteen
Height: 161 cm, or around 5'3"
Weight: Smaller. Around 100 lbs.
Medical Info: A very healthy girl in her late teens! There's probably a few scars around from childhood/hunts, but otherwise nothing out of the ordinary.
Eyes: Green
Hair: Red
Physical traits: Very very red hair, tied back into two pigtails a spunky walk and lots of beads. She looks younger then what she really is! She wears a pink halter and a short skirt complete with a bear pelt (a bear she KILLED HERSELF). She has lots and lots of bracelets that probably jingle a little when she walks. She's usually seen with a smile on her face.
What's Okay To Mention Around Him/Her: Just about anything. If you tell her horrible things she might not believe you.
Abilities: A very capable Medic, Ravager, and Saboteur. She also has an Eidolon named Hecatoncheir which I can hardly spell half the time. She fondly refers to him under his pet name "Hecaton." She uses a rod that she attaches to the back of her skirt named "Nirvana."

Hecaton is an Eidolon that can be summoned by Vanille. It's this crazy thing with all kinds of arms that can turn into something that kind of looks like a tank. I don't know, it's kind of amazing. Sometimes she hides in its arms and yells at people to stop shooting at them. :(

THIS IS WHEN THAT crazy Eidolon turns into some kind of piece of crazy machinery. Hecaton resembles an odd-shaped tank with canons coming out of four sides. In Gestalt mode, Vanille hops up on to the middle of the tank-type creature-thing and starts firing the cannons. :x

Notes for the Psychics/Magically or Spiritually sensitive: SPOILERS Vanille was once a l'Cie, a servant to a god-like creature called a fal'Cie. She chose it of her own free will, along with her companion, Fang. Responsible for the War of Transgression, Fang transformed into Ragnarok as their Focus intended in order to destroy Cocoon and kill millions of people. Vanille, terrified of sacrificing the entirety of the floating continent, found herself unable to follow Fang. She refused, and thus never completed her Focus—and Ragnarok was never complete. The Goddess took pity on Cocoon, and put both Fang and Vanille in crystal statis, where they awoke five-hundred years later to finish what they started. Throughout the events of FFXIII, she fulfills her Focus and becomes crystallized with Fang again, carrying the world of Cocoon.

Hailing from the world of Gran Pulse, she is tribal peoples that lived in love with each other. She's a very open person when it comes to affection. However, she's very internal about some of her feelings that are obviously not cheerful. Feel free to catch on, as she doesn't usually say much about it.

THERE IS ALSO HECATON floating around, and she can preform all kinds of magic spells. :3c

Can I shapeshift/bodyswap/spit at/step on/etc?: YES OF COURSE, DO YOU WANT TO BE A PERKY GIRL? please ask. You may spit on her and step on her but she might get angry and hit you with the end of her rod. :(

Hugging/kissing/other non-violent physical contact: Did I mention that Vanille is a very physical person? Honestly she's going to end up doing this before anyone else manages to get to with her.

Maim/Murder/Death: THESE ARE BIG ASKING QUESTIONS.

Cooking: Hilariously enough she can probably cook some choice tribal foods. That includes things Fang catches along with wild herbs and greens and roots and crazy things like that. It probably looks cuter than it tastes, and recipes are limited.

no. 01 : BLAH BLAH BLAH APPLICATION BLAH BLAH

Character: Vanille
Series: Final Fantasy XIII
Character Age: 19
Canon: Welcome to Cocoon, a floating hub of human activity. The people there go through their daily lives much as we do, except they have one terrible fear: the lower world of Pulse looming below them, said to be a constant threat to their way of life. Both Pulse and Cocoon are ruled by magical creatures called fal'Cie. These beings care, govern, and use humans to do their biding. Those who come in contact with a fal'Cie are branded with a specific marking on their body and turned to l'Cie, forced against their will to do the wishes of the fal'Cie and fulfill a vague task given to them called a "Focus." If they fail, they become monsters, but if they succeed they become crystal, and, according to the world's legends, "live forever."

A l’Cie chosen by one of the Pulse fal’Cie, Vanille is all smiles and laughter. Doing her best to be kind to everyone she meets, she ends up befriending various strangers because of her willingness to help others. Okay, she’s a bit of a crybaby, and sometimes a scaredy-cat, but she’s willing to lie to make sure people’s feelings are spared, even if it means she ends up shouldering the consequences on her lonesome. Ready for battle and willing to try anything from taking down a bear to pulling wool from unruly sheep, she’s a girl of nature, and often finds herself wandering to enjoy the sights and smells of the world around her. Despite her outward expressions, Vanille is a deeply internalized individual; her fear, guilt and worry are pushed deep down inside where no one can see. She’s stubborn enough to keep face and bring up party morale, even if she’s the only one trying. It’s all she can do to keep moving forward and finding another way to fulfill her, and everyone else’s, Focus. After all, we make miracles happen ourselves.

Sample Post:

I’ve looked at this place from every angle! Up, down, left, right--even from the middle of one of those corn fields. Ooh, but I still don't get the name! Camp … um, Fuck You Die? It looks just the opposite. I guess the appearances may be different from what I'm used to, but all I have to do is look around! Look, look! There's all different kinds of life in this place. That includes you. Don’t let anyone else tell you different. Then there's the fields and fields corn, and the gorillas, and the birds, and all the campers too. Oh, and Marcy, of course!

That was her name, right? The biiiig creature in the middle of the pond with all the tentacles. She looked a little intimidating, but then again, she could've just been in a sour mood when you told her how you felt about her. Things get that way sometimes, you know. Maybe she's just trying to work out something complicated, and goes on waving her tentacles around when she gets upset! But I wouldn't try approaching her again until she calms down. Sometimes girls need time to think through things on their own to make the decisions right for them. It was a very nice confession, I promise! It might have just caught her by surprise! Don’t worry, it’ll all work out for you. Think of it like a boost in self-confidence! That’s right, I think that you were very brave to announce your feelings like that. After what happened she'll have to take you up on your offer the next time she sees you! You're a handsome young … oh, um … what were you again? On second thought, nevermind! It can be your little secret!

Come on now, no more moping. You did your best, and you never know, she may even change her mind. How about we forget about it for now? That’s right, we’ll just deal with it later. Instead, we can peel silk off some corn, or make some necklaces at the arts and crafts hut. You know, or you could help me come up with a better name for this place! You live here too, so you need to pitch in. I already have a few ideas. I like the sound of “Camp Field You Live” much, much better. It covers everything! The two big parts of this place, the corn field part and living part. Maybe even something like “Camp Tentacles You Love”--oh no! I didn’t mean to remind you of Marcy. No no, turn that frown upside down! Let’s turn this place into “Camp Corn and Confidence”!

That's 42 in and 6 out which makes a whopping 87.5% over this way!
